Most rooms aren't usable the second a meeting ends. Tables need to be reset, mics put away, AV taken down. Setup and teardown buffers protect that time automatically.
How buffers work
When you create a space, you set two numbers:
- Setup minutes — how long before the event the room is considered "in use" so nobody else can start a meeting that overlaps the prep window.
- Teardown minutes — how long after the event the room is still "in use" for cleanup, even though the meeting is officially over.
Example
Fellowship Hall has 30 minutes of setup and 30 minutes of teardown. Someone reserves it for 6 pm – 8 pm. The room is actually blocked from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. If another group tries to book it at 5:00 pm, the system warns them — there's a conflict.
Where you see this
The reservation detail page shows two times: the actual event time (what's on the calendar) and the blocked window (what conflicts against other bookings). The display screen outside a room shows only the actual event time so attendees aren't confused.
