Import your lists from Mailchimp, Flodesk or Campaign Monitor

Email Campaigns

Moving to Studio's own email from another tool? You don't have to export a CSV and lose your list structure. If the other provider is already connected under Settings → Integrations, Studio can read your lists straight out of it and rebuild them here, one Studio list per list you had over there.

Bringing lists over

  1. Go to Email Campaigns → Lists.
  2. Click Import from… in the top right. (The button only appears when you have a connected provider Studio can read from, see Which providers can Studio import from?)
  3. Pick the account, if you have more than one connected.
  4. Tick the lists you want, or use Select all to bring everything over.
  5. Click Import.

Check the preview first

Tick exactly one list and Studio reads the first page of it live and shows you what it found, the subscriber count, and a handful of the actual email addresses. Nothing is written to Studio at this point; it is a read-only look.

This is the step worth pausing on. If the count and the addresses look like the list you expect, the connection is working and you can import with confidence. If you see an error instead, the message comes straight from the provider and usually says what to fix, most often a key that needs re-copying under Settings → Integrations.

Importing into a list you already have

Open the Studio list first, then use Import from… on that page. That version brings one list from the provider into the list you are looking at. It is the right choice when you have already built a list in Studio and simply want to top it up.

The built-in All Contacts list does not offer this, it is maintained automatically from your People records.

How long it takes

The import runs in the background, so you can close the window and carry on. A few hundred contacts take seconds; tens of thousands take a few minutes. When it finishes you get a notification in the bell menu and an email summarizing what landed.

What comes across

  • Email address and names. Existing people are matched, not duplicated, and names already in Studio are kept.
  • Mailchimp tags and groups become person tags. A group reads as “Group name: Choice”.
  • Flodesk segments become person tags. Studio still creates one list per segment.
  • Campaign Monitor: pick one pick-several field per list in the import window. Its choices become tags. Pick one list at a time to choose its field. No field picked means no tags.
  • Mailchimp phone and address fill only fields that are blank in Studio. An address fills only when all address fields are blank, so two addresses are never mixed.
  • Everyone lands in People too. Suppressed addresses keep their person record and tags without joining the email list.
