Choosing who receives a campaign

Email Campaigns

On a campaign's Details tab, the Audience picker decides who gets it. You can send to a saved list or to a smart audience that's figured out on the fly.

Send to a list

Pick any of your contact lists. The campaign goes to everyone on it (minus anyone who has unsubscribed or is suppressed).

Smart audiences

Instead of a list, target people by what they've done — no list-building required:

  • Donors — everyone who has given.
  • Sponsors — people with an active sponsorship.
  • A role/category — e.g. Volunteers, Members, or any People category you use.
  • Event registrants — everyone registered for a specific event.

Each option shows a live count so you know how many people it reaches before you send.

Who gets skipped

Anyone who unsubscribed or landed on your suppression list (a hard bounce or spam complaint) is automatically excluded, so you stay compliant without thinking about it.
