Connecting Multiple Emails to One Account

Donor Portal

Studio matches your activity by email — every gift, recurring donation, and event ticket is keyed to the email address you used at the time. If you've given through multiple emails over the years (an old work address, your spouse's email, a personal address you used at one church only), you can pull all that history into one account by verifying each email.

Where to find it

Sign in to usestudio.app/account → click your avatar → My Account → Profile tab → Connected Emails section.

The flow

  1. Click + Add another email.
  2. Type the email address you want to connect.
  3. Click Send code. We email a 6-digit verification code to that address.
  4. Open the email (in that inbox), copy the code.
  5. Back on Studio, click Enter code on the new pending row, paste the code, click Verify.
  6. That's it. The email is now connected. Activity logged under that address — across every Studio organization — surfaces in your portal immediately.

Why we require verification

Studio never claims an email is yours just because the name matches. That'd be an impersonation risk — anyone could "claim" someone else's donation history. Verification proves you actually control the inbox at that address. The 6-digit code expires in 15 minutes and can only be used once.

Switching primary email

The "Primary" email is the one Studio uses for sign-in and as the default for receipts. Once you've verified an alias, you can promote it to primary by clicking Make primary on its row. The old primary stays as a verified alias.

Removing an email

Click Remove on any non-primary alias. Activity logged under that email stops appearing in your portal aggregate. The underlying records (gift history at each nonprofit's CRM) stay intact — you're removing the link, not the data. You can re-verify the email later if you change your mind.

Common scenarios

  • Old work email: You gave to a nonprofit using jane@oldcompany.com years ago. Add and verify that address — your old gifts roll into your account.
  • Family-shared inbox: Your spouse's gifts and yours are mixed under one address. Verifying it on your account brings everything into your portal. (Same applies if you both use Studio — only one account can claim the address.)
  • Single-organization email: One church always sent receipts to a specific email you only use for them. Add it.

What this doesn't do

  • It doesn't change anything on the nonprofit's side. Their record of your gift still has the email you used at gift time. Only your aggregate portal view is affected.
  • It doesn't merge two separate Studio accounts. If you accidentally created two accounts with two different emails, contact support@usestudio.app and we'll merge them properly.
