The review toolbar: what every icon does

Design review

The toolbar floats at the bottom of the review canvas. Hover any button and it tells you what it is; this is the same list, with the keyboard shortcut in brackets.

Marking things up

IconWhat it does
Move (four arrows) — VThe normal state. Drag to move the design around, scroll to zoom. Nothing you do with this tool leaves a mark, so it is the one to be in when you are just looking.
Comment (speech bubble) — CClick a single spot and leave a numbered pin there. The one to reach for most of the time.
Box (square) — RDrag a rectangle around an area — a whole header, a block of text, a photo. Use it when a single dot would not say how much you mean.
Arrow — ADrag from where your note sits to the thing it is about. Useful when the spot itself is too small or too busy to write on.
Draw (pencil) — DFreehand. Circle something, scribble through it, sketch a shape you want instead.

All four marking tools do the same thing at the end: they open a small box where you type what you want to say. The mark is not saved until you write something and press Comment. A shape with no words is not feedback, so it is never kept.

Looking around

IconWhat it does
Zoom out (magnifier, minus) — -Step back.
100%The current zoom level, and a button: click it to go back to actual size. 1 does the same.
Zoom in (magnifier, plus) — +Get closer. Worth doing before pinning fine detail — the pin lands where you click.
Fit (corners) — 0Fit the whole page on screen.
Resolved comments (tick in a circle)A show/hide switch for comments already dealt with. It does not approve anything. On means resolved comments are still visible; off hides them so only outstanding feedback is left.

Along the top

  • Back arrow — return to the project.
  • Status chip — In review, Approved, or Changes requested.
  • Version dropdown — jump to an earlier round, with its own markup still on it.
  • Compare (stacked layers) — hold this round against the one before it.
  • Request changes / Approve — the sign-off, recorded against this round.
  • Upload — put up a new version.
  • Share — create a link for somebody with no login.
  • Speech bubble (far right) — show or hide the list of comments.
