Understanding Processing Fees

Stripe & Payments

Every payment processed through Studio has two fee components:

1. Stripe Processing Fee (pass-through)

Stripe charges your own Stripe account directly. Studio never marks this up:

  • Standard card payments: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction
  • Verified nonprofit card (Stripe Charitable Giving): 2.2% + $0.30 per transaction
  • ACH bank transfers: 0.8% capped at $5.00 per transaction

This fee is charged by Stripe regardless of which platform you use. It's deducted before the money reaches your account.

2. Studio Platform Fee

Studio's fee depends on your subscription plan:

  • Any Free tier (Craft, Faith, Cause, Missions): 2.5% card / 0.5% ACH
  • Studio Events Free / Studio Give Free: 2.5% card / 0.5% ACH
  • Any Paid tier: 0.5% card / 0.1% ACH — the subscription funds the platform

On Authorize.net or QuickBooks Payments

If your organization takes payments through its own Authorize.net or QuickBooks Payments account, Studio's fee is the same as above, set by your plan. Each payment reaches you in full; Studio adds up its fee and charges it once each evening to the card on your Studio plan, and emails you the list of payments it covers. Your provider's own processing fee is between you and them. See Studio's Fee on Authorize.net and QuickBooks.

Fee Coverage by Donors

Donation pages can optionally let donors cover the processing fee. When enabled, the donor sees the fee added to their total so your organization receives the full intended amount.
