When you take payments through your own Authorize.net or QuickBooks Payments account, each payment reaches you in full. Studio's fee cannot come out of it, so it is added up and charged separately. The rate is the same one you would pay on Stripe; your Studio plan sets it. See Transaction Fees Explained.
How it is charged
- At 8 PM your time each evening, Studio adds up its fee on that day's payments and charges it once to the card on your Studio plan.
- You get an email listing every payment it covers, and a receipt under Settings → Billing. The Processing fees tab shows each evening and the payments in it.
- Days under $1.00 roll into the next evening, so you are not charged for pennies. Anything left is charged at the end of the month.
- If your account has credit with Studio, it is used first, and the email says so.
If the charge does not go through
Your payments keep working. Nothing about taking money from your donors, clients or attendees stops. Studio emails the account owner once and tries again each evening. Update the card in Settings → Billing to settle it.
Refunds and voids
- A refund keeps Studio's fee, the same as on Stripe.
- A void (a payment canceled before it settled, so no money moved) has no fee.
Your processor's own fee
Authorize.net or QuickBooks charges its own processing fee under your agreement with them. Studio never adds to it, and it is not part of Studio's charge.
