Studio can take card payments for your organization three ways. Choose the one that fits how you already run your money. You can switch later, and nothing you set up is lost when you do.
The three options
- Stripe. The fullest option: cards, bank payments (ACH), Apple Pay and Google Pay, with payouts to your bank. See Connecting Your Stripe Account.
- Authorize.net. Use the merchant account you already have. Card payments settle into it, at the rates you agreed with your provider. See Finding Your Authorize.net API Keys.
- QuickBooks Payments (coming soon). If you run your books in QuickBooks Online, card payments will land in QuickBooks Payments and be deposited to the bank account you chose there. It shows as "Coming soon" in Settings until it opens. See Setting Up QuickBooks Payments.
What works on each
- Everywhere: donations, giving pages, event tickets, invoices, payment forms, payment plans, refunds and receipts.
- Monthly giving works on all three. On Authorize.net and QuickBooks, Studio keeps the giving schedule and charges the saved card each time. See Monthly Giving and Payment Plans on Authorize.net or QuickBooks.
- Stripe only: bank payments (ACH), Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- Always on Stripe: Rally and Studio Meals collect through Stripe whichever option you choose, because that money is held by Studio and paid out to the organizer.
Studio's fee is the same
Your Studio plan sets Studio's fee, and it is the same on all three. On Stripe it comes out of each payment. On Authorize.net and QuickBooks the payment reaches you in full, and Studio adds up its fee and charges it to the card on your Studio plan once each evening. See Studio's Fee on Authorize.net and QuickBooks.
How to choose
- Go to Settings → Payments.
- Pick Stripe, Authorize.net or QuickBooks Payments, and follow the steps on that card.
- Studio checks the connection works before it switches anything, so a typo never stops your payments.
If you pay for Studio on the free plan, add a card to your Studio plan first (Settings → Billing). It is where Studio's fee on these payments is charged.
