Studio keeps a running record of every song your church plays, so that when your CCLI reporting period comes round you have the numbers ready instead of scrolling back through months of plans.
How usage gets counted
A song counts as used once you publish the plan it is on, and it becomes reportable once the service date has passed. Plans you publish weeks ahead still show on the page, under Scheduled — not yet reportable, and move into your totals on the day.
- Each service time is its own use — a song at both the 9 AM and the 11 AM counts twice.
- The same song twice in one service (a reprise) counts once.
- Rehearsal times don't count. Neither do draft plans.
- Excluding a song from one of the service times on a plan leaves that service out of the count.
- Edit a published plan and the record follows it — cut a song and its use goes away, move the date and the use moves with it.
Generate the report
- Sidebar → Worship → CCLI Report.
- Set the reporting period to the window CCLI assigned you. The year buttons are a shortcut; most churches need a custom range.
- Studio lists each song with its CCLI number and how many times you used it — the figures CCLI's form asks for.
- Click Download CSV to get the same worksheet as a spreadsheet.
- Sign in to your CCLI account and enter the usage there. CCLI doesn't accept a file from Studio, so this last step is typed in by hand — it usually takes a few minutes.
Streamed services
If you stream a service, its songs are also owed under your CCLI Streaming Licence, which CCLI reports separately. Mark the service type as streamed under Services → your service type → Recurring Times and the report will show a separate streamed count you can report against that licence.
Songs without a CCLI number
Every song used in the period is listed, whether or not it has a number, and the page flags the ones that are missing it. Add the number on the song record so CCLI can credit the songwriters. Genuinely public-domain hymns and songs you wrote yourself don't need one — you can leave those and simply skip them when you enter your report.
Your licence number
Add your CCLI licence number (and streaming licence, if you have one) under Worship → Settings. They show at the top of the report and in the CSV, so you aren't hunting for them when you sit down to file.
