One row is one event. Registrations and ticket orders are separate files, so the events have to exist before those have anything to attach to.
What a Row Needs
A Title and a Start Date. Put the time in the same cell if you have it, like 2026-09-12 18:00. Leave End Date blank and Studio assumes one hour.
Running It
- Go to Imports → New Import and pick Events.
- Upload your file, or start from the template at Imports → Templates.
- Check the mapping and run.
Events do not depend on People, so this import can run at any point in your migration.
The Columns Worth Mapping
- Status controls whether the event is live on your public site: published, draft or cancelled. Import as draft if you are unsure. Publishing forty events onto a live site in one go, some of them from 2019, is a bad afternoon. You can publish them in bulk afterwards once you have read the list.
- Event ID from your old system stops a second run creating a second copy of every event. Map it if your export has one.
- Timezone is worth mapping if your events are not all in your workspace time zone. Left blank, the workspace time zone is used, and a 6pm service imported from a system set to UTC will otherwise land at the wrong hour.
- Slug is the end of the public link. If you are moving from another site and want the old links to keep working, map it. Blank and Studio builds one from the title.
- Cover Image URL is downloaded and kept as Studio's own copy, so the picture survives your old site being switched off.
- Capacity is the headline number. Note that ticket types carry their own capacity once you set them up, so treat this as the starting point rather than the final answer.
Dates That Look Wrong Afterwards
Studio reads day-first and month-first formats by working out which one the file can only be. Where a column is genuinely ambiguous, check three or four rows on the review step before running. Spreadsheets are the usual culprit: opening a CSV in Excel and saving it back can rewrite every date in the file.
After It Runs
- Open Events, sort by date and skim for anything in the wrong year.
- Bring over registrations and ticket orders with Advanced Import, which can target the registrations table directly.
- Revert removes only the events this import created.
