Once sponsorships are running, most of the work is keeping sponsors connected to the person they support. Sponsors lapse when they stop hearing anything.
Field updates
Go to Sponsorships → Updates. Write an update about a sponsoree — how the school year is going, a photo from a visit, what changed this season — and publish it. Everyone sponsoring that person receives it. You can draft it now and publish later.
Two or three genuine updates a year hold a sponsor better than a monthly newsletter that says nothing. Specifics are the whole game: a named teacher and a real story beats "your support is making a difference".
Occasions
Go to Sponsorships → Occasions to set up emails tied to dates — a birthday, a sponsorship anniversary. Set the subject, the message, and how many days ahead to send, so a sponsor gets the nudge with enough time to actually write something.
Pausing, resuming, cancelling
Open a sponsorship from Sponsorships → Sponsorships:
- Pause — stops the giving temporarily and keeps the sponsoree matched to them. Right for a sponsor between jobs who intends to come back.
- Resume — restarts a paused sponsorship.
- Cancel — ends it and returns the sponsoree to the available list.
Reach for Pause before Cancel when there's any doubt. A sponsor who was offered a pause during a hard few months frequently comes back; one who had to cancel outright usually doesn't.
Keeping an eye on things
The overview shows recent sponsorships, recent occasion emails, sponsorees waiting longest, and a link into the correspondence review queue — enough to see in one glance whether anything is being neglected.
