Studio's platform fee depends on which subscription plan your workspace is on. Stripe's processing fee (the card or bank network's cost) is set by your own Stripe account and applies on top — Studio never marks it up.
Stripe fees (charged by your Stripe account, pass-through):
- Standard card: 2.9% + $0.30 per charge
- Verified nonprofit card (with Stripe Charitable Giving): 2.2% + $0.30 per charge — how to check whether you have it, and how to apply
- ACH (bank transfer): 0.8% (capped at $5) per charge
Studio's platform fee — this is what we keep on top of whatever Stripe charges your account:

Paid plans drop the platform fee to a token amount because the subscription funds the platform.

ACH is significantly cheaper for larger payments — Stripe's ACH fee is capped at $5 regardless of charge amount.
"Cover the fee" — donor or attendee absorbs both
On donation pages and event ticket pages, you can let the supporter opt to cover both Stripe's fee and Studio's platform fee so your workspace receives the full intended amount. About 80% of donors say yes when asked.
Refunds
When you refund a charge, Stripe returns its fee to you in proportion to the refund amount. Studio's platform fee on the refunded portion is also reversed.
Free events
Free events have no fees at all — Studio doesn't charge anything when no money changes hands.
Where these rates come from
- Stripe processing fee is Stripe's standard pricing — same for every business that uses them, not something Studio marks up.
- Studio platform fee is set per subscription plan. Higher plans get marginally better rates as a perk on top of the feature unlocks (more sites, more storage, more team seats, etc.).
